The OMEN Asset Building Corps began their year of AmeriCorps*VISTA service on August 24th, 2007. The members are working on Asset Building Initiatives such as the development of a Financial Advocacy Program for tax payers receiving an Earned Income Tax Credit, Community Land Trust development, establishing procedures for a Community Builders Program for low-income and elderly community residents, and small business development assistance for Indianpreneurs, and Food Security and Source Education.

    CASA of Oregon -VIDA

    Work with the VIDA collaborative to plan a comprehensive financial literacy curriculum targeted to education IDAs, provide access to IDAs and financial literacy training to geographically isolated populations, conduct outreach to potential IDA member agencies, and research consumer credit-builder loans for IDA participants.  

    Creating Assets Savings & Hope (CASH) Oregon

    Work with Board to increase tax-aide sites and volunteer base to expand EITC outreach to increase access by eligible individuals and families. Also work to evaluate Forum and increase membership to EITC and community support of CASH.

    Eagle Tech Systems/Warm Springs

    Increase services to entrepreneurs to create a culture of entrepreneurship that fosters a more supportive local government, a more responsive Chamber of Commerce and networking and mentoring opportunities in the community.

    Food Roots Inc.

    Building a stronger regional food system that increases both community and economic assets by empowering, educating, and engaging youth, families and communities to provide the opportunity for increased self-reliance regarding their food needs.

    Hacienda Community Development Corporation

    Work with the Fund Development Director to strengthen and diversify Hacienda’s asset building and resource development activities to better serve low-income residents of Hacienda’s service area.

    Mercy Corps Northwest

    Increase business survival, business revenues, jobs created, and household income fore eNet participants by increasing their access to one-on-one technical assistance and quantify the efficiencies and impact of our organization by collecting objective data through the MicroTest protocols of evaluation.

    Oregon Native American Business & Entrepreneur Network (ONABEN)

    Provide ONABEN stakeholders and the general population with essential information about ONABEN’s programs and impacts. Increase the capacity to provide Indianpreneurship services to Native Americans in poverty through program and fund development.

    Oregon Microenterprise Network (OMEN)-VISTA Leader

    Provide support, resource development, mentorship, and training for the members of OMEN’s Asset Building VISTA Corps. Work to expand the capacity of OMEN to serve the Asset Building VISTA Corps and member organizations. To qualify, you must have completed a year of service with AmeriCorps*VISTA.

    Oregon Coast Community College (OCCC) Foundation

    Increase student scholarships for low-income underserved individuals in Lincoln County and for low-income and Hispanic individuals for pre-nursing and nursing.  Also increase the number of donors who contribute to scholarships for low-income individuals in these areas as well as for low-income individuals who are completing their internships in the Aquarium Science program.

    REACH CDC

    Work with the Resource Development staff to research, develop and implement a comprehensive 3-year fundraising plan to meet strategic plan goals for donor cultivation and fundraising.

    Wy'East Resource Conservation & Development

    Identify and develop community assets to help low-income families and individuals gain economic independence.  Begin implementation of an Asset Development Infrastructure throughout the service area.

    Willamette Neighborhood Housing Services (WNHS)

    Increase the capacity of WNHS’ asset-building strategies, which include the Linn-Benton MicroBusiness Program Financial Fitness and Homeownership Center by expanding and developing the outreach and marketing strategies as well as resource development opportunities for each program.
